Tylluan
https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/crewe-notts-county-linesmen-fans-31419326#google_vignette Notts County's game with Crewe finished 15 mins late due to the lino refusing to carry on after getting a load of verbal abuse from County fans. The incident happened after a last minute penalty was awarded to Crewe. What makes it worse is the opposite Lino refused to swap sides. Skamp
And, true to form, one manager didn't see the incident but the other thought it was nailed on, all day long.
Otto_Man
Why should the lino on the opposite side swap?
Tylluan
2 hours ago, Otto_Man said: Why should the lino on the opposite side swap? There's a hierarchy of linos. I forget which side the more senior one stands on but he was the one who used to take over if the ref got injured before it changed to be the 4th official (which happened in this game) The ref can call upon the more senior lino to switch sides in exceptional circumstances
Snap
Well I knew that the linesmen was always to the right hand line if the ref was stood on the centre spot and looked towards each goal. I didn't know about the seniority though so thanks for that, I took this from Wiki, The more senior of the two assistants will normally occupy the side of the field containing the technical areas, to help oversee substitutions. Which makes sense. Edited November 15 by Snap
HoylandOwl
What the hell. I know we can all call the officials out from time to time, but if it went beyond that. Which it seems. Then… They’re pillocks
