HoylandOwl
Good call Reesh. John’s a good bloke and his books are excellent. I’ll be nipping down there if I can get away early enough… aka not roped into 500000 things by the missis before I set off to the game.

Oldbury Owl
Thanks all. It would be good to see plenty of people there. If it needs an extra incentive - the special guest is now confirmed. It's legendary defender Mark Smith.

He had a take or two about penalty taking for the book. Boxing Day being just one :)
Ozzie
What's Mark Smith doing these days? Had a hand in the pigs development and looks like we missed a trick with him. One of my favourite players back in the day when I was a young lad.

One of my favourite players back in the day when I was a young lad. Wouldn't say we missed a trick. Last time I heard he was their loans manager but with their current financial system you can take that either way. He did a couple of years around 2008 as their academy development coach but in academy parlance that's a bit down the pecking order. He also doubled up looking after the international scouts they used. His best efforts as academy coach came at Barnsley with some decent runs in the FA youth cup. Then he moved to be our u19s coach until we restructured in 2006.

After leaving our place as a coach in the academy setup.. IIRC.

Oldbury Owl
Mark Smith's at Scunny now. Sure if anyone pops along on Saturday, he'll be happy to chat about it.

Just querying as I thought he was involved in their academy and they have produced a fair few more than us.
