  1. Nedem Onuorah did a really good bit about this and how the players who were in the game 20 years ago really don't get it when they commentate, especially when teams make a mistake and they come out with "why are they doing that/they're not good enough/it's too dangerous".  His point essentially is that the players and coaches know exactly why they're doing it, the point is to stretch play, draw the opponents in and make space in the areas behind them.  The coaches know there will be mistakes but that's part of the improvement process & the testament is actually how few goals are being conceded now when doing it.  The issue last night wasn't the system, it was simply a mistake by Beadle, who should have kicked it first time.  He'll learn from it.

The point though, about these pundits, not quite appreciating how the game has changed tactically is a sound one, i can't imagine that Carragher would have got many games in a side that played in this way.  It's probably time for a bit of a changing of the guard at Sky etc.

Been looking at the The The dates, he's an artist I'd love to see.

Same. Thought the last chance had gone when he did a few gigs a couple of years ago.

  3. Going to Manchester on Friday to see David McAlmont of McAlmont & Butler fame with his new venture with Hi-Fi Sean.  They're on at Band On The Wall which is a new venue for me.  I've listened to the album a couple of times and while it's no McA & B, the voice is still in fine fettle.

Then in March I've got Echo & The Bunnymen in Leeds and Drella at The Underground in Bradford.  Then a gap until September when it's The The in Manchester, so I'll be looking to squeeze a few more in.

  4. Maguires answer sounds like damaging speculation without facts & without a leak I don't see anyway that he'd have that knowledge.

Tewks explanation looks more likely & probably another example of how the club could save themselves a load of grief if they were able to come out and say what the reason is.  It still doesn't explain the handwritten receipt thing though, it's not as though EPOS pricing is difficult to set up.

Saw an article suggesting that Blackburn had messed up the paperwork on Maguire. Ok it was in The Star so fully expect him to be in the next starting 11

It looks legit, their manager was banned from talking about it yesterday but still made pointed references to it.  Their fans are going barmy on Twitter because apparently its a mistake they've made previously on a deadline day registration.

Fool that I am I read the other site.

The consensus still seems to be that it's fine to protest, antagonise try and somehow force Chansiri to sell.

And then dismiss any responsibility to find a new owner, importantly a suitable and financially sound new owner as part of that.

They remind me of leftie students or the No to Oil type folk, full time whiners with fuck all concept of how to resolve the issues the changes they demand will cause.

I mean I understand protest on equal rights etc, they change peoples opinions. But this is a protest against the "state" if we use that as a shit analogy for Chansiri.

If you want to over throw the State what comes next.

I agree with your point but the comparison to lefties or Just Stop Oil don't work. Both those groups, agree

I read that, which seemed strange as Bannan was pretty strong on his X feed after the end of the game and totally in support of him.

The booing of Palmer was him simply being a twat not the colour of his skin

Yeah, that's what I thought too. He did have to clarify the waving at Palmer, maybe Palmer didn't believe him...I don't know.

After kick off, I agree, most were booing his behaviour imo.

Strange game - thought we were going out with a whimper there. My stream froze just as the ball was crossing the line. Had to wait 10 seconds before it being confirmed.

Could have won and lost that at the end

Anyway another game v Coventry is just what we need with the furore surrounding it off the pitch.

Be interesting what the beef was between Bannan and K Palmer

I read that Palmer refused to shake Bannan's hand at the start, don't know how true that is. Obviously a hangover from last week if it is & they must have continued it.

Do you think Coventry taking the knee is inappropriate given the BLM leaderships support of the October 7th terrorist attack on Israel, bearing in mind it's Holocaust Remembrance Day tomorrow?

    Or don't we count?

None of that remotely matters in the context of last week & tonight.

Both sides were trying to make a positive statement. Our knuckleheads dicked it up & made us look like a racist fanbase.

That might be ok for some people - it's not for me.

    Why is it

    Really?

Player gets racially abused last week.

    It gets international condemnation.

    Both clubs condemn it too.

Both teams show support at kick off, one takes the knee, the other links arms.

Fans boo. Same team as last week.

It looks absolutely terrible for the club & we're already getting stick for it.

Anyway, enough...I want to enjoy it before we concede the second goal.
