Main Road was the worst I had encountered for missiles.  One year darts were thrown over.

Them 2 flares being fired from that flare gun into our end at Pig Lane in 2003 weren’t exactly pleasant either. Any of us could have been on the receiving end of one of them that night and unfortunately a 13 year old girl was hit on the forehead by one of them.

Cowardly bastards! Yet another reason to hate them. Fortunately those responsible were apprehended for it and I think might have even done time for it.

I’d like to think they got a further comeuppance from a few of our lads as well.

  2. My best mate of 40 years (he was best man at my wedding and I his) is an Ipswich fan and we’ve always been ok about each others clubs - but after how their supporters were last season (and have been since) my stance towards that club has changed and he knows it.

Only thing that wants them to carry on doing well (except when they play us) is because they might stop L**ds going up automatically.

    Come on Wednesday!!

My final point, the the Owlstalk vs Owlsonline debate. Having read both, I feel both forums have the reasoned members and the abusive. If you read back through this thread and put your opinions to one side, there’s really little difference. I’ve spoken with people of all the credentials listed above on both sides of the fence. There are experts who feel the chairman need to vacate, to match every one who feels otherwise. I think it’s dangerous to suggest anyone dissatisfied with the chairman, is somehow unqualified in their view. Particularly given his lack of qualification in running a football club.

I can’t let this go. Back when Dave Allen was in charge I was very much in the vocal minority in terms of wanting him out on owlsonline.

Yes I got abuse, ridicule etc. for it by a few posters who disagreed with me (and I gave it back, as I was no saint), but at no point was I banned, had posts altered/removed or had some derogatory name/term posted under my username. There were also posters who didn’t agree with me who I was able to have a constructive debate with - and there were even one or two who agreed with me and also wanted Allen out. That’s what I liked and still like about this site, you are allowed a different opinion and so long as your posts are reasonable, articulate and well constructed, you’ll receive the same type of response from other posters - but be a dick and it won’t be too long before you get short shrift.

Whereas I did have posts removed on Owlstalk and one prick on there (not Neil), who was a moderator, and who couldn’t construct any decent argument against posts I made, used to go down the ridicule and post removal, or temporary banning route instead, in order to save face. A total prick of the highest order. If you disagreed with him that was it - and he wasn’t the only one like that back then, but he was the worst because he couldn’t construct a decent argument, just resorted to bully boy tactics. I didn’t get fully banned from Owlstalk but I did decide enough was enough and stopped posting, quite a long time ago now. A lot like me will no doubt have done the same over the years, which is why that site now resembles a cult, where everyone follows the leader!

There might well be posters of similar quality on Owlstalk as there are on here, but they’re either silenced or you have to sift through so many shit posts to find the decent ones. Owlstalk might have more posters and more traffic than owlsonline, but they are the classic example of quantity not equating to quality - and as has already been said, if you don’t share the viewpoints of those running the site and their sheep, you’ll soon find yourself banned or or on the receiving end of ridicule and abuse.

    Thats not for me, thanks.

Why do you have that right?

If you did your shopping at ASDA and felt they were (in your opinion) making a lot of incorrect decisions, would it be your right to demand a meeting with the company board and hierarchy to challenge them?

I see the question has already been asked!

Because I’m not happy with how the club is being ran and I’d like to see change. I love the club as does my Dad and one of my sons (the other will learn) and I think there are lots of incorrect decisions being made which should be challenged. I have that right.

Section 75 of the consumer credit act

So what are the misdescriptions you are likely to get under Section 75 of that act when buying a season ticket then?

There’d be hell on earth if supporters were duped under that! Even if I was a 1867 Group supporter I wouldn’t be arguing on that one.

What consumer rights are you worried about losing when you buy a season ticket with cash, cheque or PayPal

Should be an interesting answer this one. When I’ve had “1867 Group type characters” piss me about on eBay, it’s been PayPal that’s sorted it out and got me my money back!

What’s the truth then? I use PayPal to pay for my purchases on eBay, but it all comes off my debit card.

Let’s not go all Owlstalk on here. It’s a legitimate question which I would like an answer to.

Not in any way lending support to The 1867 Group and I don’t need to repeat the posts made on here this afternoon, most of which echo my viewpoint (i.e. failure to state what happens/who is waiting in the wings and how we move forward if Chansiri did call it a draw), but I can’t explain this one, so it’s either a crock of shit as you say or there’s a reason for it, which none of us seemingly know the answer to.

I do have a PayPal account though, which might explain some/all of it.

I've just seen a post from Rob Staton on X (formerly twitter) about the protest with the flyers last night, he thinks they were a lot more than last time and when I said that they wasn't he said "state of some of these comments.

In his position as a BBC radio Sheffield reporter shouldn't he be impartial to all this? He seems to support the group.

When I posted on stalk (many years ago), and before he became a radio presenter, he was good mates with Neil Hargreaves and posted on stalk under his real name. I can remember them both climbing out of the same car together at one away game.

Doesn’t surprise me in the slightest therefore that he’s (still) singing to the tune of stalk.

I’m not a big fan of his. I find him arrogant and a bit of a condescending ‘know it all’ when he hosts the Radio Sheffield phone ins. He doesn’t like it when someone has a different viewpoint to his and resorts to comments like those you have stated - not really how you should be conducting yourself when you’re a supposed professional, impartial radio presenter.

  11. I’ve read every post and sorry lads, but even as a West Yorkshire Owl and being the black sheep of my family because of it (due to the rest of them being Leeds supporters and me hating them), they were the better side tonight. Our season won’t be determined by results against sides like Leeds, but it will be determined by playing against sides we have a better chance of beating.

I hate Leeds, I despise the bastards and I hate it that we have lost to them, but they were better than us tonight. Just look at their squad of players and what they cost. To be honest I’m proud of how we competed against them over 90 minutes.

If we can keep DR we are on the verge of something very special at SWFC. He learns from every Championship fixture we play and he knows what needs to be done to make us a decent and competitive side. And he’ll leave learned a lot from watching how we played against a top Championship side tonight.

This season is about him keeping us up. Next season might be about him establishing us in the Championship, but if he gets the backing he needs I see him guiding us to the Premier League within the next 3-4 seasons!

Things won’t be like this forever, especially with DR in charge. Keep the faith lads.

Unfortunately we seem to getting no let up of a small number of total morons making us look really bad at the moment this season

    Absolutely ridiculous

I’m starting to wonder if the next cell that originated after the amoeba can be traced back to Sheffield in origin, cos there’s clearly still a few of them around!

  13. Be good if the supporters sing at the top of their voices until the final whistle now, regardless of the score. Would show the lads and gaffer we are still 100% behind them.

It would drown out the part-time, glory seeking Leeds bastards as well.
