I don't think he cried off.

    Neither do I.
I was trying to say he could have done - and no me would have been critical.
He could have ducked out with an eye on saving himself for his next contract.
But - he seems to be prepared to put himself on the line for the cause. As a loanee - that gets top marks.

  2. If he played at QPR knowing there was a chance he might not manage 90 mins - then fair play to him.
As a loanee, he’s certainly done enough to put himself in the shop window so could have easily have cried off.
At a time when we’re worried about the application of some of our out-of-contract players… his commitment to the cause is noted.

  3. No mention of Beadle yet - apart from time wasting.
Thought that was his best game for us, including a couple of brilliant saves that looked certain goals. The one down to his left in the second half at 2-0 when L**ds we’re on top kept us in the game.

  4. Can understand the nervous last 20 mins - players and fans.
When you look at that league table from 1st Dec, tonight wasn’t about 3 points, or even being a “relegation 6-pointer”. Winning tonight feels like the reward for 4 months hard work playing catch up.  We’re still 23rd but finally on a level footing with the others. Game on!
The 10-game mini league starts Friday.

Don't understand the faux outrage from some of our fans, they didn't seem to have a problem when we signed Gary Madine or Reda Johnson...

Once again, the club seems to have put itself in the middle of a minefield. Unless we’ve suddenly upped our PR game overnight, feels like it’ll be viewed a loss whichever way we go now.
But if we’re playing top trumps with players with dubious backgrounds, can I have Nile Ranger and Jamie Vardy (I know).

All those slating the transfer window should have a listen to what Deeney and Morrison were saying about Poveda signing for us after the game.

"Brave move" "What attacker wants to go to a relegation team" etc.

Even Rohl on persuading him to come.

It's so hard to get players to come to a team at the bottom, it's just not worth the risk of relegation if on permanent, and it's hard to get the performances if on loan.

DR made this point when talking about his meetings with Poveda pre-transfer. Said he could see it in his eyes that he wanted to be here, and that not all players want to join a team at the bottom of the league

Both Macguire and Biereth said, after turning us down, that they would get more chances to score with teams higher up the table.

Catch 22 - we need quality, but quality might not need us.

“BBC Derby Sport understands Derby County have made a loan offer for Sheffield Wednesday striker Michael Smith including a significant wage contribution but we're told the Owls are demanding an excessive fee in return.”

Derby are offering a “significant contribution” whilst we have “excessive demands”.
Interesting choice of words for a striker with 40 L1 goals in the last 2 seasons and 18 months on his contract.
