Who Got Us The Points 2022/23

Recommended Posts

Welcome to this season's Who got us the points.

The rules for Who got us the points are;

In a draw. The player who scores the goal that secures a draw (our first in a 1-1 draw, our second in a 2-2 draw etc) is determined as having earnt us that point; or the defence in the case of a 0-0 draw. The defence's point is shared amongst the keeper and the defence. For a flat back four it is a straight 0.2 points each, for a back five it’s 0.2 for the keeper and the centre halves, and 0.1 for the wing backs. In the event of a defensive substitution if the substituted player has completed 70 minutes he'll still get the full 0.2 and the defender who replaces him won't get anything. Anything less than 70 minutes and he'll get 0.1 as will his replacement (or 0.05 for the wing backs).

In a win. The player who scores the goal that made sure we got a draw (our first in a 2-1 or 3-1 win, our second in a 3-2 or 4-2 win) gets one point or the defence in the case of a to nil win, and the player who scores the winner (the second in a 2-1 or a 3-1 win etc) gets two points (as he turned a draw into a win).

The Meaningful goals table will follow similar rules but the score at the time of the goal will be the key factor, so a goal that gives us a lead will earn the player two points, regardless of the final result, whilst a goal that puts us level will get a point. A goal that gives us a two goal cushion will get half a point, as will a goal that reduces the deficit to a single goal. Goals that put us three (or more) goals to the good will be considered as just the icing on the cake and won't be rewarded, similarly goals that bring us to within two (or more) goals of the opposition will be considered as mere consolations and hence also not credited. For this table cup goals will count.

For the season opener, Dele-Bashiru’s second was the goal that got us our point.

In Meaningful Goals, Adele-Bashiru gets three points as his first goal gave us the lead and his second drew us level. Johnson gets two points as his goal put us 1-0 up.

The first point from our 1-0 win at MK is thanks to our clean sheet.

Windass’ penalty turned one point into three. And also gets him two points in Meaningful Goals.

The first point v Charlton was courtesy of the defence. The defensive substitution came after the 70 minute cut off mark so it’s 0.2 for Stockdale, Palmer, Heneghan and Ihiekwe, 0.1 for Hunt and Johnson. Bakinson’s first Wednesday goal added the other two point. He also gets two points in the secondary table.

Another clean sheet to claim the first point, with Windass’ opener adding the other two points in the 5-0 win over Forest Green Rovers.

Windass gets two points in Meaningful Goals, and Bannan half a point for making it 2-0. Palmer’s and Gregory’s don’t get them anything.

The first point at Morecambe is down to the defence. It’s 0.2 for Stockdale, Palmer, McGuinness and Ihiekwe, and 0.1 for James and Johnson as that change came before the 70 minute cut off. Apologies, I have not seen the game, so if that change wasn’t a straight swop please let me know.
Windass’ opener was his third goal this season, and the third winner, so it’s another two points for him.

Likewise in Meaningful Goals, so he has a comfortable lead in both tables. Byers gets half a point for making it 2-0, Smith doesn’t get anything for adding the third.

The defensive change came after the 70 minute cut off, so for the first time this season the clean sheet point comes from the keeper and a flat back four - so 0.2 for Stockdale, Palmer, Johnson, Ihiekwe and Heneghan. Windass’ fourth goal of the season was the fourth winner, and he has a healthy lead in both tables.

Bannan gets half a point In Meaningful Goals for putting us two in front, Dele-Bashiru doesn’t get anything for his strike.

The defensive change at Cambridge came just before the 70/20 minute cut off, so here’s how the clean sheet point is awarded.

Stockdale, Heneghan and Ihiekwe played the whole game in the same position so all get 0.2. Palmer and Johnson get 0.15 having played both full back and wing back, McGuinness gets 0.1 for his 21 minute stint at centre half. Gregory turned one point into three.

In Meaningful Goals Gregory gets two points for his first and half a point for making it 2-0.

Another first point thanks to a clean sheet. According to RS (please let me know if you think otherwise) it was a 5-3-2 formation at Accrington. That means 0.2 points for Stockdale, Ihiekwe, McGuinness and James, and 0.1 for Iorfa and Mighten. And Mighten gets another two points for hitting the winner. It also gets the Forest youngster two points in the secondary table.

A flat back four gave us our first point for the clean sheet v Shrewsbury. Iorfa’s substitution came after the cut off point, so it’s a nice and straight forward 0.2 points for Stockdale, Iorfa, James, Ihiekwe and McGuinness. Our loan centre half bagged the winner, so it’s two points for that for him in both tables.
