Tylluan Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Fans groups holding a golden share have blocked a takeover of NAC Breda by City Group after shareholders unanimously agreed a £7m sale. City Group had been working with NAC for several years, sharing scouting info and providing several loan players. However, when it came to the next step, fans started a hands off our club movement and crowd funded to send supporters to demonstrate outside City Group clubs across Europe. NAC are financially secure but have 'underachieved' for years and currently lie 8th in the 2nd division. Although City Group have said there are no hard feelings they've pulled back 2 players that were due to go there on loan. Fan ownership of a golden share, within their club, forms a major part of the reforms within the recent Tracey Crouch fans led review on football. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/football/2022/apr/22/manchester-city-football-group-plan-to-buy-nac-breda-fails-after-supporter-backlash Quote

Obviously it's impossible to know if the takeover would push them to the next level, but obviously the fans weren't happy! Quote
