The Owls Under-18s made a return to winning ways on Saturday at Cardiff.

Second half goals from Fuad Sesay and Rio Shipston earned a first victory in five games for Andy Holdsworth’s side.

The deadlock was broken 15 minutes from time when Sesay was first to the ball from a Cardiff clearance, the full back showed quick feet outside the box to go past his marker and strike in off the post.

And Sesay was involved in the Owls’ second in the 90th minute to seal the points.

A clever backheel from Isaac Holland picked out Sesay’s run down the left, who was taken down in the box by Bluebirds defender Callum Jones.

The referee pointed to the spot and Shipston stepped up from 12 yards to convert down the middle and give the Owls a two-goal cushion heading into stoppage time.

The Owls have two home games of the 2021/22 season to go and sit fourth in the table, six points off the top two play-off positions with a game in hand over second-placed Barnsley.

XI | Hall, Phuthi, Maltby, Chapman, Flannery, Sesay, Shipston, Thornton, Al-Jahadhmy (Moses 74), Maciag (Holland 66), Trialist (Yogane 90)
