  1. Above all correct. On Troy Parrott: Comes from the same place as Helen? of TROY That’s normal for a golfer, PAR(R) excessive OTT for this forward. TROY PARROTT.
  2. A little cryptic quiz on our next opponents…MK DONS. I’ll provide answers, if not already revealed, sometime on Saturday before kick off. Feedback appreciated if you want (don’t want) any more similar quizzes. Here you go… Players Past and Present. A strong thread from north of the border. All I is after is somewhere to get some cooked meats and cheeses. Confused errand for this gardener. Is he a Scottish son to a visible mass of condensed water vapour? Churchman’s tie by the water channel. It’s Gospel according to this mixed up daw chick. Comes from the same place as Helen? That’s normal for a golfer, excessive for this forward. Other MK People. 8. Close one eye to the Spanish man after low grade fuel. 9. Was this agent castaway with Tom Hanks? 10. A different sea for Pauline and a combative midfielder. 11. These red birds aren’t off anywhere, they’re after a mixed up lark. And to end, an MK Location. 12. Has 1 hotel been confused for the place where MK play?
  3. I agree with most of what you say here, especially the bit I’ve highlighted, but there was an example earlier in the game that disproves this. Walker went down in an innocuous challenge and managed to roll umpteen times - almost rolling off the pitch (“get up you twat. Clearly not injured”). He had treatment, went off the pitch, came back on, (“I knew it. Not injured at all”). Minutes later went down injured again, substituted, (“maybe injured after all”). Replays showed him catching his standing foot as he went to clear the ball. Injured, but capable of rolling.
  4. The difference between finishing 5th and 7th could be decided on goal difference. If we’re 4 up after 20 minutes, I’d be disappointed if we didn’t push on for at least another four. I’m still annoyed that we “declared” at six against Cambridge. We should have got at least two more to help the GD. At best, I’d give him 15 minutes v Portsmouth, but only if play off places have been determined. Crewe is too important to risk an untried young kid. I remember Hirst’s debut at Cambridge: enthusiastic, but clearly a kid amongst men.
  5. Is it too fanciful to see Rotherham lose at home to Ipswich and away to Burton, Sunderland and Gillingham? A home game to Oxford seems their best chance of points. I’m hoping for Rotherham to finish 7th, with Plymouth 2nd.
  6. But on the other hand… …how often have we said “we’re not a selling club”, “you don’t get promotion by getting rid of your best players”? No doubt that our transfer policy (if we’ve ever had one) has been disastrous for decades, but there’d have been uproar had we sold Lees. Just as there was regarding the possible move of Forestieri. There’s a mindset at Wednesday, amongst the fans as much as anyone inside the club, that needs to change.
  7. I’m no expert so may be missing something, but doesn’t the Administrator, when naming a “preferred bidder” with “exclusivity”, do so on the basis that the preferred bidder has a high probability of completing the deal? Everything I read about this saga points more and more to the administrator being incompetent at best and, at worst, intentionally dragging it out to their own benefit at the expense of creditors, employees, fans etc. Surely there are rules governing the actions of Administators?
  8. I’d like to see us give Dawson another chance seeing as he seems to be doing so well at Exeter, but I can’t see how we can. With BPF and Wildsmith likely to be off we’re left with Dawson and the youngsters. So we need to bring in a keeper. If we bring in someone as no. 2 to Dawson and Dawson struggles, we’re in big trouble. Bring in a quality keeper then Dawson has to be relegated to the Wildsmith role. So we might as well sell Dawson for what we can get, but with a good sell on clause, and bring in two new keepers.
  9. I think I’ve only seen them live twice. A pre Moscow friendly and Rooney’s* 100th cap (I think it was). I have however, travelled all the way to Ljubljana to watch a qualifier against Slovenia in a pub. It was my son’s first England away day and he wanted the company on the planes, trains, and tortuous journey he’d identified as being the cheapest. * Can someone get the auto correct sorted. Typed in Rooney and it changed to Romney. FFS.
  10. Feedback: I’d still take part, but I wouldn’t pay to do so.
  11. Another Man U game in the Big Ron era (for them). I think they started the season played 10 won 10, then picked up a midweek draw at Luton, then came to Hillsborough on a sunny Saturday. A late Lee Chapman header at the kop end giving us a 1-0 victory.
  12. On a positive note: Boxing Day massacre. Wasn’t the term coined by the Blades pre- match? 74 relegation season 4-4 v runaway leaders Man U (think we barely scored another 4 all season). Arsenal 3-0 under Carlos. On a negative, I’d like to add some of the losses during our first stint in division 3, but we were so poor, a 1-0 at Halifax and 3-0 at Mansfield were hardly against the form books.
  13. Bit early! Not 11a.m. yet and the geeks aren’t here. I’ve no idea on any of them, but I’ll give it some thought before they do arrive.
  14. Can I put the jinx on the Merry Miller's please.
  15. It’ll be extremely close. If all the top 8 replicate their record over the last 6 (or in Plymouth’s case 5) then we will pick up points against Oxford (already behind us) and Rotherham (to far ahead to be caught). MK, Plymouth and Wigan will extend their lead over us. Sunderland and Wycombe will pick up 3 points more than us. So we’ll be a point behind Sunderland and level with Wycombe and relying on goal difference. We currently have a six goal advantage.
  16. Yeah, I’m mixing the two games. Both 0-0 and both with the Pigs bigging up a massacre. Loosens was sent off in one of them. Isolated games perhaps, but both keepers did well in those games.
  17. Did Dawson play in Jos’ first game? I think it was him in goal. A threadbare squad. A squad low on confidence. A trip to Bramhall Lane dreading a heavy loss. Penalty in first 10 minutes: gonna be a long night. But he saves it, we draw 0-0, nearly nicking a winner. I regard him with positivity for that match alone.
  18. Isn’t he on a long contract? I’d give him another year on loan at Exeter if they can’t / won’t pay. But we might need him to replace Wildsmith.
