I still believe we'll get back up there and win something! I can't help it. Man City, Leicester, Southampton and Forest have all risen from the depths we're at and come good.
I think the key to getting it right will be the Academy though and starting to produce playable and saleable assets like Southampton do.

Quotes from The Reading Chronicle
"It’s a nice homecoming," he beamed. "I’m from Windsor so I used to pop down here when I wasn’t playing and watch when I was a kid. I’ve had friends that have come here, and I scored here on my 30th birthday so it’s always good memories.
"I’m delighted. It took a while to get over the line, but I knew I was staying so it was nice. Everyone has treated me really well; I couldn’t thank everyone enough."
"It’s a challenge, and I will never shy away from a challenge. To be successful at this club this year, to stay up and be part of something and together in that dressing room, my character is good for that. It’s important we all stick together at the club; it’s going to be a tough season, but we’ll try our hardest day in day out.
"Nothing fazes me, I just wanted to play football in an environment that was comfortable and near my children. If you would have asked me when I left Sheffield Wednesday where I would want to go, it would’ve been Reading. I can’t speak highly enough of the club."
Not sure I believe the last line..... But good luck to him.
Reading or QPR were always his preference mate given his family are now Berkshire based once again. Will probably get a job coaching kids at Chelsea when he's finished playing

Roofe would rip through league one, if he stays fit. 19/20 - 13 league games. 20/21 - 19 league games. 21/22 - 21 league games.
He'd be on rotation with Gregory, Smith, Windass and sometimes Paterson also so hopefully that wouldn't be a problem.

Makes even more sense to have strength in depth. It's about time we had an advantage over the tinpot outfits rather than the disadvantage of a constant target on our backs, for a change.
-
Sounds like he's had a reyt tough time with a lot of suffering poor bloke. Really glad he's sorting things out and on the road to recovery! It will have helped a lot of people that interview.
Considering the very dark problems he was going through during his time with us it's pretty incredible some of the top performances he managed on the pitch!
-
Might as well keep FDB, if we get promoted it will be worth potentially losing him on a free. We could offer him a better deal following a promotion and if he has a good season there will be better clubs than Blackpool and Norwich coming in for him so it suits all parties.
On Bakinson, shrewd signing with a point to prove. Love how Big Daz is getting some proper height into the side, far less set piece/balls pumped into the box late on to worry about!
-
Good luck to the lad, seems to have a good attitude
-
31, 32 and 33 will be regular starters in the first team then!
Ryan Galvin going out on loan if he's not been given a number? Hope he does and gets a solid 35 match season under his belt.

Carlos gave him the number 10 shirt and started him ahead of Lee in the first game of the season at home to Bristol City (and probably the first few games, without checking) so it's not like he didn't give him an opportunity.
It'll have been down to McGugan's attitude and unwillingness to work hard or follow the game plan surely. Similarly, I'm not buying into other clubs wouldn't give him a chance, just sounds like excuses.

Bored, so I looked up a few more former Owls to see what they are up to...
Vincent Sasso, currently at Boavista (decent move for him that!) following a previous couple of seasons in Portugal, post us, at Belenenses and 84 appearances for Servette.
Frederico Venancio - currently at Eibar in La Liga who have just been relegated to the 2nd tier, spells at other Iberian clubs, Vitoria Guimaraes and Lugo following us
Frederik Nielsen - just been released by Skive in Denmark, nice kid, hope he finds another club
Paul McLaren - currently NW Regional Scout at Man City
Luke Boden - currently playing for Orlando SeaWolves in the US Indoor league
Ben Sahar - still only 32! Currently plying his trade back home at Maccabi Haifa
Steve MacLean - first team coach at St Johnstone, passing on his finishing tips to Stevie May no doubt
Paul Heckingbottom - Pig Farmer
Tenuous link:
Yann Songo'o, brother of Franck Songo'o, currently in Bradford City's first team

Vadaine Oliver joins Bradford City from Gillingham
Got on well with Megson at Hillsborough apparently:
-
Not famous but some of note I went to:
England U15 v West Germany U15 at Wembley 1989 - Ryan Wilson, soon to be renamed Ryan Giggs was captain of the England team that day
Chelsea v Man Utd 2008 at Stamford Bridge - saw Kieran Lee make his one and only appearance for Man U
Torquay v Plymouth 1992 Devon Cup final (pre season game) - Shilton manager of Plymouth, Steve McCall played for Plymouth, an 18 year old Darren Moore was at centre back for Torquay!

I think e-programmes to run alongside the physical copy would be a good option too. The edge matchday programmes still have over social media feeds is it's easier to look back and reminisce if you have a copy to refer to. A lot of fans see the programme as record keeping rather than just providing news in the moment also.

Straight off Corrie that lad, good player especially for this division
-
Longstaff's dad, David, was a mainstay of the Sheffield Steelers in the 90s, hence why both of his lads were born in Rotherham
-
Winall a key player? Gi'oer

Sounds a promising prospect, adding a touch of balance to the side. Welcome to the club 🦉UTO
