Didn't Neil Megson play a few internationals for USA?
Aye, he played a few around that time in the late 80s. Bit of a reach but I wonder if he put some contacts and ultimately Big Ron onto Harksey and Meola?.. I know Blackburn and Celtic had a look at JH in trials also.

Bit of detective work:
- The match v Canada's National Team was 13/05/87
- We also appear to have played against Calgary Kickers (in their first ever game upon formation of the old CSL) on 22/05/87 in a pre-season tour by the looks of things...
- Neil Megson (brother of Gary) played for the Kickers around that time so maybe the game came through that link. Or perhaps he signed for them off the back of new contacts made.

Could Robins be this season's Dave Jones?
Don't be daft. Why? We've had our best start to the season for many a year and are nicely poised for top two.

Could potentially recall Brennan if necessary

Wasn't there a Bramall's Gold Room on Herries Road for a while?

Schumacher would take the West Brom job if offered, he'd be mad not to. I know Plymouth are currently firing but is he actually very good or just riding Ryan Lowe's wave?

The Cambridge gaffer puts the pressure on us by saying, Wednesday have to get promoted.
Solid performance and a good result.
Moore should have said in his post match comments; Cambridge have got to stay up.

Let 5 goals in over a 26 minute spell.

Just been looking for the stats to back my assertion up, and it appears that he’s improved in recent years. A few years ago it was awful, he had a spell where he missed five in eight.
It seems Man City’s penalty record is pretty poor overall, so perhaps Mahrez is their best bet after all.
Hotshot Hamish Haaland would be surely.

Based on ability (not compatibility with the shape/eachother etc)
Big Ron by a million miles
Woods
Nilsson, Pearson, Walker, Worthington
Waddle, Palmer, Sheridan, Di Canio
Hirst, Warhurst
Carbone, Jonk, Pressman, Degryse, Viv Anderson

A good move, unfortunately its needed.

Good signing and a good player, especially for this league!
Would we swap him for any other keeper in League One? I wouldn't. There are others playing out of their skin currently, like that kid at Plymouth, but they'd never be able to handle the pressure of expectation playing for a club like us where large swathes of the fans expect the title and it's the end of the world if any points are dropped.

Well Pope has blown his chance now then, it'll be Pickford in goal.
Can't see how Maguire can be picked to start, his confidence has gone now that all the media and fans are on his back (understandably as he has been shit and is not good enough to play for a club like Man Utd, never mind captain them).
What are the options at CB, Cody and Tarkowski? Having three Everton players in the back 5 does not sound good at all. Mings, Walker and Stones, all prone to clangers too. Dier is a nailed on starter now surely, not that he should be in the side ideally either.
We need to go all out attack as we are looking crap at the back, which is incompatible with Southgate's approach really.
I hope I'm very wrong but we'll not get beyond the quarters.

Another common Under the Cosh theme.
Nigel Pearson - universally disliked as a manager. And quite a shit coach too by all accounts.
Listened to the Craig Hignett one recently too, who described big Nige as "a nice bully" when he captained Middlesbrough. Apparently good at drawing and drew caricatures of all the players taking the piss out of them 🙂

Hopefully Pope is given a chance to stake his claim and does well.
I don't care what anyone says, Pickford simply isn't tall enough to be the national keeper and Ramsay is overrated (irrespective of him being a pig and judging by some of his on pitch behaviour, a bit of a shithouse).

It's a great appointment for Derby unfortunately.

No player is bigger than the club, Moore managed it well.
Same with FDB, make him an offer and have replacements ready so if he hasn't signed it by Christmas we can sell him in Jan and move on.

I like the England kits, though the home shorts should be deeper navy and the away shorts should be white.
The rest are all boring Nike templates though.

You mean those on the kit releases? Local bands that it helps promote?
Ya miserable old bugger. 😜
Haha! No, not the Sherlocks kit one - that was very good, a few other media videos have had what is blatantly the video editor's taste in music on them, which have been crap.
All for supporting Sheffield acts IF they have talent.
