Gaffer in the Manager of the Month nominees.

    Danny Rohl (Sheffield Wednesday)

Rohl has had to manage minds as well as bodies at Hillsborough. He finally led Wednesday out of the relegation zone with 11 points from six games. As crucial as three wins to that tally was a draw from 2-0 down at home to Norwich.

    Maybe not you personally.

There was a campaign on OT and X, where they were trying to get everyone to deny Chansiri money by not renewing season tickets. I honestly can't see how you didn't see this, ot was everywhere. "If you renew, you're killing the club".

People who did renew were apologising on social media.

My mate who reads OT got angry specifically about "having people telling me not to renew my season ticket."   He actually did renew when he did because of it.

  3. Very sad news.  RIP Ian.

I missed those two iconic matches through working abroad back then, though saw some games whilst home on leave.

I remember meeting him later on when he was working as a sales rep in Sheffield. He visited my Sheffield firm twice before going to play in Hong Kong. He came across as a really nice bloke. More recently I got to have a brief chat with him at a fan function at Hillsborough.

We certainly had the momentum after the play off first leg last season

All part of Daz's plan to put 'boro in the ideal mindset for the ambush he had set for them.  😉  Including Red Nose Jnr, who was left berating the ref. for playing extra time on extra time: Fergie Time.   🤣       And now?  The Great Escape, Season Two.

Any wonder that kid has turned out a a total scrote with a role model like his father? The smug look on the little twat’s face as he’s filming says it all. And then you have his idiot father now showing that video like a trophy and boasting about it, yet at the same time he also has the fucking cheek to play the victim card.

Best result of the season, biggest feel good factor we’ve had this season and most together club and fans have been all season - and still you have fucking idiots who claim to be supporters destabilising things!

I hope Chansiri bans both of them from S6, along with that total fucking muppet who ran around the pitch with the corner flag.

That video and post infuriated  me for several reasons, as posted by others above, but it was the spoiling of my long and (virtually) perfect day that annoyed so much. (The lunatic with the flag had impinged earlier. WTF?)

The timing - before the important planning meeting of DC & DR - is just soul destroying. That family don't appear to have a brain cell between them.

When you really think about it football is weird.

Lets face it this season has been shit and we sell out the last home game hoping that we finish above at least 3 other shit teams and nothing is decided today 🤦‍♀️

I will not celebrate just staying up like a promotion it’s embarrassing.

    * up at 6 cos I forgot to wash my lucky shirt 😘

    There's dedication!

I think as we were in Tier 2 and currently are the actual ups and downs must even out - where is an accountant when you need one !

Not fully verified but my quick calc is

14 seasons in the top flight

    12 in tier 3

    24 in tier 2

I mean 50 years is a large sample period and that suggests our level is The Championship.

24 seasons and counting not in the top division is pretty damning

You're right about our promotion & relegations over your 50 years watching them.  I'd unthinkingly put my own in, after I started in the mid-1960s. 🙄  57 seasons almost for me.

Yes we were bottoming out under Len Ashurst. I liked Neil O'Donnell out of that team. Len brought him with him from Gillingham for about £4k IIRC. Not released but injury forced retirement prematurely a year or so later. A couple of others of note -  Eric ' Billy Whizz' Potts and the quality but injury prone Mick Prendergast - sadly died too young.

Some little gems that linger in the memory from what were pretty bleak times.

I remember all of those players positively. (Eric the Fruit Bat, surely!)  Especially Mick Prendergast, who seemed to have the world at his feet when he first broke through. Savaged by injuries, he went down the leagues as we did.  Very sad.

  9. Happy Anniversary MK and Tank!  Let's hope you're both celebrating after the match.

Just a thought, MK: "the ups and the many downs."  Promotion and relegation-wise, there's only actually been one extra of the latter.  (I know you weren't actually being that literal. There's a lot more to Wednesday supporting than just specifically that and we do seem to have collected a hell of a lot of misery along the way.)  Let's all hope for two weekends of celebrating to end this season, and reason to look forward with anticipation. UTO!

    Oh, and MHR, MK. 👍

Happy Golden Jubilee! You'll likely have been there just two years later then when winning a night match against Southend ensured we didn't fall through the trapdoor to the 4th division. We celebrated it like we were champions.

And then released loads of the players!  (From memory.)

I went to that game and theres a barge moored on the river that's open as a bar, all the Posh fans were in their after the game in very high spirits, I texted a mate of mine to say I was on a barge with celebrating Peterborough fans, the Saturday after I got a text back from him saying "they won't be celebrating on the barge this week" 😀

More like jumping off of it!  😋

We tried to get in there before the semi: absolutely full and queuing.  After the 4-0 disaster we couldn't wait to get out of town. I can't even imagine what they felt like after the second leg!  After it I was waiting at traffic lights, on my ecstatic and eventual way home. I happened to notice a small family of Peterborough fans slowly walk past like they were in a trance: mum, dad and a little girl.  She was all dressed up in their stuff. They'd all got that Thousand Yard Stare, not speaking.  I actually felt sorry for them, the way they looked. I wouldn't have swapped places with them, though!

SAG must be driving a hard bargain over the tickets for the LL, maybe worried some backlash from the Geordies 🤣

Terrified of the bad publicity from those two alleged newspapers. (Shitwipes.)

Fuck me I mean we're bloody due one, pretty much a full season since playoff semi since we had one, mind you we'll probably have forgotten how to take them and miss the fucker 🤣

Nailed on. Been telling my mate's lad for a while: every time he yells for one.  😋

I don't question any of the above, but it would be great to win Saturday but its no cause for any celebration as the job will not be done

Beyond a quick lap of the pitch to acknowledge the supporters, then back inside to re-focus

I appreciate I am a miserable fucker but hearing about folk taking inflatables and creating a "party" atmosphere - what fucking planet are these numpties on

Ok its probably the "we had a nice day out at Wembley" shit for brains people in our so called fan base.

I agree with that. However, I am still enjoying the fook out of last Sunday's win and day out, just in case we don't get anything else to celebrate!  "Do it now."   😋

  15. 2 hours ago, Gamblor said:

Indeed. I remember Peterborough’s pitch invasion after they beat us (around a decade ago). No one should celebrate until the job is done.

Good shout. Yes, I remember that: not just cocky but obnoxious with it.  An even better reason for not swapping places with them now. Or Dingles. Or Derby...
