2022/23 Wednesday transfer thread...

We had scouts at Sincil Bank for the Everton Papa John's game.

Everyone reporting we're looking at Tom Cannon but 6' 5" centre half Reece Welch was also on the radar. Just signed a massive deal till 2026 and Everton have a lot of faith in him.

Likes to stride out with the ball, when he can, and can pick a pass so fits Moore's criteria for a centre half.

Can Cannon play Ball?   👀

Tyrese Owen of Kingstonians is someone we're apparently keeping tabs on.

Never heard of him. But, unearthing a gem would be nice wouldn't it?

6' 5" right back currently playing as a centre mid. Looks like a cross between FDB and Kyle Hudlin when he's running with the ball and a lot of players bounce off him but it's tier 7 football.

He had a trial at Derby last January that came to nothing and a mate at Huddersfield said he looked like a pub footballer that had won a trial when he was there before Christmas. He played midfield and was robbed too easily in possession and had trouble with the pace of the game. Got a shot on him though.

His preferred position is right back but I've no idea how he'd be there. All his recent stats are from midfield. He's 23 though so we couldn't stick on an u21 contract to see if he works out.

Huddersfield stuck Hudlin in their B team, on a B team contract, and sent him out on loan to Wimbledon. He's not having a great time there but it's cost Hudders almost jack all to find out

So we avoided a costly expense with Hudlin then as we don’t have the same possibility with the B team thing!

That's the beauty of B teams over u21s with overage players. The over 30s playing u21s, like Huddleston, are coaches with player registration retained. The u21s with 23-25 year olds playing tend to be on extended contracts, a bit like George Hirst would be if he wasn't on loan.

B teams are run as a separate entity so with its own contract budget. Hudlin thought he'd signed for Huddersfield, not Huddersfield B.

Everton are looking for a deal that stipulates 100% matchday squad inclusion (when fit) and at least 70% participation (starting or sub appearance)

They'll not get that, unless he goes lower down the league, but that's their starting point.

Unless we're selling Windass and/or Bannan, or Bannan's fooked for the rest of the season then there's no point in adding Anderson to the squad.

Is Moore going to drop Baz' to give him game time? Or will it be one of those loans where we stick an attacking central midfielder/deep lying 10 out wide and ask him to play wingback?

Morrison not been playing though - but sadly I can see McGuinness going back and getting little game time, reversing the strides he has taken the last few months

I noticed he’d not been playing but with them being a) shite and 3) losing a squad member it’s more plausible now if they do.

Even though he's already their own player?

I think they had to have a squad of registered players for the season. But as per Joe crann this am it sounds as if they are recalling him.
