Hirstys 12th Pint Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Listening to Talk Sport last night they were asking listeners to put forward their version of the Mount Rushmore sculptures with the 4 icons of their Clubs. For example a West Ham fan went Moyes, Di Canio, Noble & Dicks. An Ipswich fan went Burley, McKenna, Holland & Bent. Whats everyone's Wednesday version ? Think I would go Wilkinson, Waddle, Sheridan & Pearson (just edging out Nilsson). Waiting for @Reesh to put forward Bullen, Atherton, Dawson and Xisco. Quote

Tank_Owl2,0 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 All modern day icons but I somehow think the true legends of the club are long gone, e.g., Starling, Stephenson, Langley and Dickinson. Modern day would have to be Sheridan, Hirst, Wilko, Pearson Quote

Do we base this on people in our lifetime, or all time? For people in my lifetime, I’d say… Charlton, Hirst, Waddle and Nilsson. Atkinson misses out because he has that relegation on his record and how he left. All time, you’d probably swap Waddle and Hirst for Wilson and Fantham. Springett would be a shout too. Quote

On the upside: Under his managership we produced the best Owls football I've ever seen. Downside: He eventually needed to replace about half the team due to old father time. Instead he trashed the lot: baby / bathwater syndrome. (And brought in generally inferior replacements, sometimes for far too much money.) Quote
