lobster Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Article in the colour sup of the Times on Saturday about the self titled Lady Carbisdale . She is selling her Scottish Castle after feuding with the locals . Owls fans may remember her/him as Sam Hashimi the " Stalking Horse " in the Woolhouse/ Brearley takeover saga of Dem Blades . 3, yes 3 sex changes later Samantha ended up buying and refurbishing a Scottish Castle but is now selling it after a long running feud with the locals . Just one of the many nefarious characters that seem to inhabit the wonderfull world of Sheffield United Quote
Owling_Wolf Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 You may not be aware that I have spent the night in Carbisdale Castle. 👀 It used to be a SYHA youth hostel, back when I was 'doing the Munros'. An absolutely stunning building, built with an interesting story. Just off the top: The Earl of Sutherland died and the family didn't like his 'outsider' wife. They wanted her out of Dunrobin Castle, the ancestral seat. The deal they eventually had to agree to was to build her a new home of equal status, but it could not be within the county of Sutherland, (joint most northerly county in Scotland.) So she had the amazing Carbisdale Castle built just across the river in Ross & Cromarty, high on a crag where it would be seen. Unusually, it only has clock faces on three sides of its clock tower. Because she wouldn't give them the time of day. 1 Quote

Skamp Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Dunrobin Castle. Sounds like a Famous Five story. 1 Quote
