Look at Welby.

For all his virtue signalling, protestations a out Trump, Climate Change, BLM and Brexit he enabled a serial paedophile to continue and escape justice.

He should be imprisoned for complicity.

Perhaps an equivalent charge to 'corporate manslaughter' should be enacted for instances where institutions have covered up such horrific crimes.

If employees of SWFC can be charged for the failings of others, then surely Welby, the BBC, the Boys Brigade, Rotherham Social Services  etc should face the same

Welby is an absolute disgrace.  If only he stuck to looking at what's going on underneath his very nose instead of poking it into areas that only need commenting on when he's got his own house in order.  Too busy pandering to the liberal elite that his flock.  No wonder congregation attendances are plummeting under his watch.

And don't get me started on the National Trust.  More like the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei

See this thread before the weekend was a debate not so much about Baldock but how society is these days.

The trigger points over the weekend are a microcosm of that, I mean I probably over analyse stuff I don't need to but it still leaves me perplexed.

That

The written word on social media is now deemed more sinister than the spoken word or song which is still overplayed compared to spitting or intimidation or violence.

Not just in football but real life.

That a social media post can get you cancelled, prosecuted, unemployed but singing a song is showing pashun

The demarcation is one step, the social media post is aimed at one person and is condemned.

The song, I accept is a bit pantomime show about football rivalry violence, the one step is that it does not reference an individual, but in the last year a Wednesday fan did die as a result. There is a lot saying about respecting Baldock's family - rightly so - but the considerations of the other family. Well we can ignore that due to this one step demarcation.

I mean I don't get why in real life a social media post gets you 3 years in jail but grooming as a TV presenter gets you a slap on the arse.

I get times change but questioning why the differential seems valid to me

I think this debate is highlighting some flaws in human nature, including pack mentality, vindictiveness and plain nastiness.  It often disappoints. I have zero problem with people expressing disgust where warranted but not the witch hunts that attempt to influence the dispensing of punishment. One of the sad outcomes IS the effect on the perpetrators family. It's  not their fault. Someone doing something stupid/offensive etc can be a split second aberration. Sometimes, as we've  seen, not though.

As to consequences, we've  agreed on the sheer stupidity of certain acts from a self preservation standpoint if nothing else. If you display something to as many people as you can with the intent to outrage, disgust or upset then you should know in this day and age that it WILL inevitably find a wider audience than you intended. It doesn't need a snitch to get back to employers .... it'll gravitate there eventually anyway. What then happens is between employer and employee.

Employer will do what it feels is necessary to protect It's brand not what is necessarily commensurate with the employees action. As far as SWFC is concerned, it too will seek to protect its reputation and be seen to be doing so. Condemnation alone however will likely not deter prospective future perpetrators so banning is really It's  only tool.

As to differentiating between spitting and the other stuff - theyre all unacceptable. On one hand aggravated by physicality, the other by a degree of malicious pre-meditation.

It was probably on Accounting Web, but there was a failed tax case being reported. That wasn't the interesting bit, what was more to note, that the entire VAT fraud was facilitated by the person getting a £825k grant to develop a nail bar. This was in Wales btw. You go WTF and then a couple of the posters on there refer to the Welsh Assembly giving £200m to a tidal flow energy scheme in Swansea, where those funds have simply gone with nothing tangible.

So we can add that to the list

Just don't say 'thanks love' in the café or 'cheers mate' to the parking attendant.

Welby does the decent thing and falls on his sword

The decent thing would have been to have shopped the peado years ago and fully cooperated with plod.

My Mrs is an RS teacher and although not remotely religious said this last night...

Did you know that the supreme court has confirmed the decision in Scottow v CPS which established that Free Speech encompasses "..the right to offend and [indeed] to abuse another..." and if anyone reading would care to discuss this further than I will gladly ask them to contact me via private message so I can provide details of my UK legal representatives.
