Josh Windass new role

Recommended Posts

It is clear for anyone with a clue about football what a fit Windass would bring to the side, especially under Rohl, lets hope for an injury free season, he would become just the 3rd player to score 50 goals for the club this century if he stays fit.

I know everyone played well but thought it was one of Windass's most impressive all round games for us.

It was mate, he said in the summer interview down at St Georges Park how he and Danny had common ground in how they wanted him to play and i think that is being shown and may alleviate some of the fear s Andyben had for midfield

Hope you are right as never thought he has had a defined position.  Not an out and out Striker, or a 10 or a natural wide man.  The fluidity of this team should suit him no end.

Be interesting away from home.  Do we sacrifice a Gassama or Musaba for Chalobah or Palmer but still accommodate Josh.

I've not always been Josh's biggest fan, but he's been like a new player under DR and he was a joy to watch Sunday.

In terms of where we accommodate him away from home - Gassama would be the one to miss out for me, I'd probably either move Musaba right and put Johnson in left or keep him left and play one of Valery/Pol.

I'm keen to see what DR does away at Sunderland as I'd probably look to drop Bannan for Chalobah, but that's easy for me to say as I think Bannan holds the team back.

He’s always been a clever footballer, but it feels like the ‘right fit’ has always sort of eluded him positionally, which has made people (including me at times) think he might be better off elsewhere.
But, as alluded to above, round pegs seem to be in round holes now. This summer may prove to be pivotal for the club going forward in so many ways.

Manager getting the players he wants, to fit the system he wants, and the players we already had are part of that system too.

Long may it continue
