Fake shirts

As the club have put a statement out saying that you will be asked to leave the stadium if you are wearing a snide kit does this include the terrace retro ones?

The statement says that “Anyone found to be wearing a fake shirt inside Hillsborough could be asked to leave”. No way will it be enforced, and no doubt the day would arrive when someone with a genuine shirt got chucked out in error. Then what?

Maybe if the club (and other clubs, it’s not just us) weren’t so greedy with their shirt pricing they wouldn’t have to issue a statement like this. I’m sure every supporter would prefer a genuine SWFC shirt to a fake one, but not when you can get a fake one for a quarter of what is being charged for the official one.

Clubs have brought this on themselves.

I guess the equivalent is turning up at a gig wearing a knock off band T shirt as opposed to buying the similarly over priced versions from the merch stand.

Folk don't realise that the stadium is private property so can apply their own terms and conditions - well within the law.

Why festivals ban taking in your own food or drink and presumably they could deny entry if you did so.

Agree totally. Clubs have created a gap in the market, £70 (sometimes worse) for a shirt that will be changed in a year. Clearly they cost much less than that to produce.

I had a look at the online shop last night out of curiosity and they also hit you for £7 postage if you decide to buy anything. That DHGate ship from China for significantly less sums it up.

Yes clubs are seeking to maximise revenues by protecting their IP. Same as the EPL and EFL will protect the value of the TV rights sold by going after the providers of firesticks etc - albeit the law also says the end user could be gone after.

So yes the price margin provides the incentive for providers to risk it for a few quid and hope they do not get caught. But it always makes me laugh folk will happily take the cheap option but then moan when their local pub is closed or the shopping centre no longer as shops

In places where there isn’t a monopoly, not allowing your competition to undercut you is a factor in maximising revenue. There’s a difference between selling for a premium and taking the piss and I think they’ve pushed it too far.

You are probably right about the pushing it too far price wise

Not really a monopoly though - a band or artist would do similar to protect IP

Technically I wasn't allowed to put the radio on in our old office without paying a PRS fee - can't recall the criteria. Why you hear shit muzak versions in some shops

I'm not sure the stewards would know the difference between the fake ones and the real ones.

Meh, bit of a stupid statement but nothing to get excited about. Unless you actively choose to because you’re desperate for things to criticise Chansiri about.

The fact is it was a Club Statement and whilst I am sure he authorised it the commercial team may have wanted to say it. I mean as commercial manager you may be being awkward questions why shirt sales are lower from above

The pigs have a reporting service on their website for outlets selling their items.

I get the financial pressures on families - but I have seen the comments promoting these items in an anti Chansiri context plus people happily promoting the fact on Facebook.

For those then taking them into the club 🤯🤯

Club statement says could be asked to leave though OT have twisted around via a Kieran Maguire tweet saying fans will be banned.

Typical of that tvvat who runs that forum.

Hargreaves is a fucking prick, would love to see the bald **** at a game so I could tell him as much.

That isn't a threat Neil as we know you love to play the victim and you're a grass.

Discussing fake shirts on TalkSport now and our statement has just been read out, highlighting how clubs are reacting to them.

Are they highlighting how stupid you must be to take a fake into the club shop to get a number put on?

Wait till we get to Premier league, they will be even more fake shirts knocking around, you can walk along sea front on Costa del Sol and there's loads of lucky lucky men selling fake shirts of all the big clubs across Europe.

When I see them selling Wednesday shirts I'll know that we really are back in big time. 😁
