Women's 2023 World Cup

I'm interested to see if Ireland change their style as they were very Jack Charlton in qualifying. A lot of in ya face football and snapping into tackles. The more purer teams couldn't handle it

Can we move this to the non sports section, can be alongisde ironing?

If this comment was on Owlstalk the thread would be about 300 pages long with every bit of vitriol you can imagine aimed at the poster (usually from people with the #bekind hashtag somewhere in their profile). 😂

If I gave a flying fuck what Hargreaves and his minions thought I'd be FAILING in life, much like the bands he promotes!!

Hard to play against, Haiti. Pace all over the park and no little skill.  We can get past them but we can't get away from them.  When they got past our defenders (early on) they were gone.  The two or three instances of wildness in defence by them are definitely a big weakness. They've cost them one goal: could easilly have been two and a red card.

We got away with one there.  Much better by England second half but it still took the save of the game by Earps to keep the three points.

That save at the end was very good indeed

Dutch goal would have been ruled out in the Premier League for offside and that's the problem with interpretation.

Loving the way the refs mics are going live in these situations though. That needs to happen in the game.

That I agree with.

Glad one of the hosts understands that in order to win a must win game and to go through, you have to attack and score.

Didn't think the Australians would celebrate a 0-0 and put in a performance Tony Pulis would be proud of

England women putting in a good shift

Not as good a shift as the Chinese girls will be doing in the salt mines in a few months time after that defeat…

Gerrout!!!!

Holders USA lose by the narrowest of Penalty Shootout margins.  (I couldn't discern a gap between ball and line when it bounced down, or any ball on it.)

That was a ghastly watch for two hours - Sweden picked a 'Land of the Giants' team and virtually only tried to score from set pieces - anti football. Eventually worth it though!

Glad the USA are out. Gives the Lionesses more of a chance of winning the whole thing.

Definitely, they have a very kind draw to the final even if it involves playing one of the hosts in the semi finals.

Japan have been the side that has impressed me throughout the competition so far.

Good on them for getting through that very tough match.

Think Wiegmans tactical change after James' moment of madness was a masterstroke. Despite them having a lady extra, Bright and Greenwood were so comfortable at the back. I don't think the keeper had a save to make.

Well done England

It's pub league level football without getting mullered by some 43yo plasterer who's wife's left him and he's struggling with alcohol and self image issues.

Prior to the tournament Wrexham tonked the USA womens team 13-0 . Wrexham players not a full strength didn't even break sweat it was so easy

It doesn't matter really does it? There's clearly an audience for it and it's easy to avoid.

I don't go out of my way to watch, just been following goals etc on BBC Sport pages but should England get to the final i'll watch as i did with the Euros and celebrate should they win the whole thing.

It wasn't the US team but an invitational team from the US league. There were no current international players playing and several of the better league players declined to play.
