York (a) match thread

Recommended Posts

A bit of a strange question to start with but, seeing as the BBC local weather forecast for York tomorrow is lightning from 12pm through 9pm, do we think the game will safely go ahead?

Said to a mate earlier, I can't remember an electric storm during a game before, which seems unlikely when we've been going to games for over 50 years. Are they likely to play in such conditions - especially a friendly - assuming that the forecast is correct?

My lad was mascot 6/7 years ago. The 3-2 win game against Bistol titty. There was a massive thunder storm just before kick off, was a doubt game would go ahead, not because of the lightening though. Very same night man titty postponed there champions league game for 24hrs just before kick off.

T'was the corner of the Kop/ South that was flooded and needed squeezying off.

I'd literally just flown back from Mallorca and went straight to game. Wondered why at 0-2 😆

Well you can tell straight away manager is a possession based coach.

Nice ground if a bit odd  walking in through the leisure centre

Definitely, everything played out short from the back. Tempo not been too bad first game back tbf

Our best player 2nd half was the little right winger. Was that Fusire, anyone?

Watched on YouTube and it looked like Fusire. He looked very busy and direct but sometimes tried to be too cute with his final ball

Anyone that can identify the other 3 wide players in the 2nd half, pls?  On the right was a young chap who I kept mixing up with Fusire. Not only were they very similar in size and looks at that distance, (far side), but the rotters kept switching and overlapping, just to baffle me even more.

On the near side was a young white full back, (wearing 5?), and a third smallish black winger, this one quite quick and direct.

Whilst the keepers had little to do, (both goals were tap-ins into empty nets), I was impressed by our young 'un, Charles, at the very end. When a forward looked like getting clean through he came out very quickly and committed himself totally at their lad's feet. He pouched the ball and their lad copped the worst off it, just as the final whistle went.  First time I've seen him in the flesh and I found his commitment impressive.

Didn’t see it today was travelling.

Did he switch things around or did he look to be playing a 433?

He was playing 4 in defence: James n Brennan at full backs.  Wasn't sure about the rest but at times it looked like 3 up front.

They brought a forward on at h.t. that was very effective. Quick & direct down their left wing, beating players in the box and basically creating chaos. Caused their goal and almost one or two others.  Just the kind of attacker we need.  😉   This also saw Brennan subbed.

Thanks.  I've heard of all but Flannery.  I decided today to get off my rear end and go and see the 'Reserves' for the first time in ages.  I used to enjoy going up to Stocksbridge.  Dunno if they still use that partnership.
