We need to kick on.

Is the comment from Lee Grant after the Owls defeat at the Hawthorns on Tuesday night, but it's been an obvious rallying call from the thousands of Wednesdayites for most of the season.

Grant, hasn't disappointed in his own performances and on Tuesday he showed again why he is so highly rated by other club managers with a string of good saves to keep out the threat from Albion, although there was nothing he could've done to keep out Robert Koren's decisive strike.

'We have to kick on because the games are running out,' Grant told The Star.
'We need to make sure that we are not battling against relegation in the last two to three matches of the season.

'I have been there before with Derby and it is a difficult situation to be in.'

Grant, who kept his first clean sheet in a month against Leicester, added: 'It is important for the team to get as many points on the board as quickly as we can.

'Everybody is aware of where we are and what we need to do.'

Alan Irvine has made the players quite aware of what is required in the battle for Championship survival as he has re-iterated what he thinks will be the required amount of points to ensure the Owls are to stay in the division they currently reside.

'I'm even more convinced than I was at the start of the season that it's going to be a high total to survive,' 'Not everybody can get 53 points, so I'm not really too concerned about what happens in the table at the moment.

'It would be freakish if everybody did get 53 points - it would mean that teams at the top end of the table weren't getting points.

'I'm focussing on us winning enough games.'

Swansea, the Owls opponents at the weekend are on a high at the moment after their midweek win against Watford, courtesy of a goal from ex-Owl, Shefki Kuqi, cemented their place in the playoff pack and within touching distance of the automatic promotion places. So it will have to be another resiliant performance from Irvine's men to get something from the game at the Liberty Stadium which has not been a happy hunting ground visiting sides this season, with just two sides tasting victory in Wales.

Wednesday's only visit to teh relatively new stadium resulted in a one all draw last season, with Steve Watson salvaging a point after a fantastic strike from Ferre Bodde put the hosts in front. The last 3 games have seen the Swans with the upper hand overall as two draws last season and a win at Hillsborough proves.

Look out for the Owlsonline preview in the build up to the game this weekend.
