With Luke Varney on loan with Wednesday until the summer, speculation will no doubt be rife that the Derby County striker may join the Owls on a permanent basis after the season has ended.

Varney is in his third loan spell with the club and Alan Irvine is a fan of the former Charlton and Crewe forward, but it appears the club that Varney helped to defeat at the weekend are keen to acquire the services of the striker who is a self confessed Foxes fan.

'I suppose I'm in the shop window. Of course, I'd love to come to Leicester,' Varney told the Derby Telegraph. 'I feel I've not really been given a chance at Derby.'

Meanwhile goalscoring hero at the weekend, Leon Clarke, is not considering what may happen in the summer as his contract with the Owls expires. Clarke who has hit the net 17 times for Wednesday since his move from Wolves in January 2007 may well find himself out of the door at Hillsborough in the summer but he isn't worrying about that just yet.

'I haven't thought about it to be honest. The only thing I'm thinking about right now is helping to keep Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship.

'We have another big game coming up on Tuesday at West Brom and, obviously, they're a very good side.
'They will come at us and play some good football but the manager will have us very well prepared.'
