There were 4 changes from the side that got hammered last weekend at Reading with Leon Clarke, Jermaine Johnson, Tommy Miller and Owls captain Darren Purse all getting their names on the team sheet.
The Owls started brilliantly and Clarke went close before breaking the deadlock on 6 minutes. The striker broke away and fired his shot goalwards before seeing it parried by Foxes ‘keeper Chris Weale.
There was nothing Weale could do to stop Clarkes second chance from flying into the back of the net. Darren Potter played the ball through to Clarke who fired in from the wide right.
Wednesday took their foot off the gas a little which allowed Leicester to have a few chances of their own.
Eddie Nolan gave Lloyd Dyer enough time to cross the Chris Brunt look-a-like Paul Gallagher who put his header high and wide of the Wednesday goal.
Lee Grant had to be on his toes soon after to stop Martyn Waghorns shot at goal.
With just over half an hour on the clock Leicester had to replace their ‘keeper due to injury. The Foxes centre half chested the ball back to Weale but as he slid to get the ball he somehow injured himself and had to be replaced by Conrad Logan.
Around the 40 minute mark Tommy Spurr went up for a header and ended up being knocked unconscious which was of course his own fault and as a result the referee awarded a free kick against him. With this and the injury to Weale it meant 4 minutes of first half stoppage time but Wednesday hung on and went into half time 1-0 up.

Frank Simek replaced Spurr at half time do to the head injury sustained in the first half which saw Nolan switch to the left back position where he seemed a lot more comfortable.
Johnson showed the kind of thing we’ve been missing recently and his pace was a threat all along and this was evident early in the second half. Firstly he cut inside before producing a tame shot and then he broke down the right wing and played a ball across goal but there was no one there to tap it in.
When the 2nd goal did come it was thanks to great build up play by Tudgay and Johnson. Tudgay knocked the ball down the wing and Johnson crossed to Clarke with a first time hit. Clarke was on hand to fire home and make it 2-0 to Wednesday.
With the game won both teams played down the clock with few chances. Dyer had a shot saved by Grant and Waghorn had a shot blocked by Nolan but Wednesday were strong and never really troubled on their way to a convincing 2-0 victory.

Next up for the Owls is a trip to 4th placed Swansea.
